Part of the h-alpha pictures are now processed and uploaded to the Venus Transit 2012 gallery (text are in Finnish). Processing the h-alpha pictures is very challenging and time-consuming. THO “Venus Transit 2012 – Nordkapp Expedition” took about 700 pictures from the transit of Venus. We plan to upload the best pictures to our gallery, […]

Venus transit observed by the Taurus Hill Observatory “Nordkapp Expedition”-team.
Taurus Hill Observatory research team “Transit of Venus 2012 – Nordkapp Expedition” succeeded to photograph the Venus transit 5.-6.6.2012 in Northern Norway near the North Cape (Nordkapp) in small village called Russenes. Here are the preliminary results and first photos of the event. More photos later in this site. Observers and the expedition members: Jari […]
Taurus Hill Observatory research team in EPSC-DPS in Nantes, France.
Taurus Hill Observatory research team members Tuomo Salmi and Harri Haukka will participate to the EPSC-DPS conference that is held in Nantes, France, 2.-7.10.2011. Tuomo Salmi will give an oral presentation about the exoplanet research and observations that THO reasearch team have done in las years. Tuomo’s presentation, “Ground Based Support for Exoplanet Space Missions“, […]
Exoplanet KOI 256b observed at Taurus Hill Observatory.
The bright spring sky makes the light curve measuremets quite challenging. Despite this the Taurus Hill Observatory research team managed to observe and measure the transit of the exoplanet KOI 256b 30.4.2011. KOI 256b is located in Draco and it has been discovered by Kepler-telescope. KOI 256b is still in the list of unconfirmed discoveries. […]
Gamma ray burst GRB 110422A optical afterglow was observed at Taurus Hill Observatory.
Gamma ray burst GRB 110422A optical afterglow was observed at Taurus Hill Observatory. This photograph is combine of 3 x 300 sec. unfiltered exposures. This observation has been reported in GCN 11966.
Exoplanet KOI 1452b observed at Taurus Hill Observatory.
Exoplanet KOI 1452b was observed at Taurus Hill Observatory second time 19./20.4.2011. The object is still listed as unconfirmed in Keplers exoplanet discoveries. According the THO measurements the duration of the transit was 118.7 minutes and the dimmening of the mother star 14.8 mmag. This observation has been published in TRESCA database (CREDIT TRESCA: http://var2.astro.cz/EN/tresca/transit-detail.php?id=1303267527 ).
GJ436b observed at Taurus Hill Observatory.
Taurus Hill Observatory research team observed GJ436b 29./30.3.2011 at Taurus Hill Observatory. GJ436b has been observed earlier by THO reasearch team. The dimmening of the mother star due the transit was according the measurements 6.3 mmag and duration 61.9 minutes. Measurement has been published in TRESCA database. http://var2.astro.cz/EN/tresca/transit-detail.php?id=1301456198
Qatar-1b was observed second time at Taurus Hill Observatory.
Qatar-1b was discovered 26.12.2010 and it is a gas giant that orbits its mother star once in 1.4 days. The full transit of the Qatar-1b was observed 16./17.2.2011 at Taurus Hill Observatory. This was the first transit observation since the discovery of the Qatar-1b. Teh distance to the exoplanet is about 500 light years. the […]
Gamma ray burst GRB110213A observed also at Taurus Hill Observatory.
Gamma ray burst GRB110213A was observed with Taurus Hill Observatory equipment 13.2.2011. At the moment of the photographing the brightness of the GRB was CR ~19.1 magnitudes. The GCN 11717 was published about the THO observation. Observers: Markku Nissinen, Tuomo Salmi, Harri Vilokki and Veli-Pekka Hentunen.
GRB110205A observed by Taurus Hill Observatory research team.
In the picture below is GRB110205A that was photographed by using the GRAS 005 remote telescope that is located in New Mexico, USA. The brightness of the GRB was at the moment of the photographing 16.3 CR. The photo has been taken without filters with one 600 sec. exposure. GRB was observed 1h 20min. and […]
