Comet C/2009 E1 (Itagaki) is very difficult object to photograph due it is in very low altitude in the western sky just few moments after the sunset. The comet is also quite dim and it is visible only with the large telescopes. THO research team photographed the comet 26.3.2009. Observers: Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen.

Comet C/2007 N3 (Lulin) has been getting brighter and brighter and THO research team photographed this comet 25.2.2009. At the time of photographing the comet was so bright that in good conditions it might have been possible to make naked eye observations from the comet.

144P/Kushida photographed as first comet of the year 2009.
THO research team photographed 144P/Kushida as a first comet of the year 2009. The sky was quite light so the comet wasn’t as visible as in best conditions. The temperature was -9 celsius and the seeing was about 3. Observers: Veli-Pekka Hentunen, Markku Nissinen and Harri Vilokki.

Comet 144P/Kushida was photographed 27.12.2008 at THO after long period of cloudness. Comet had a a brightness of 11 magnitudes.

Comet C/2006 OF2 (Broughton) was quite high from the horizon at the moment of the photographing and therefore a good target for photographing. Despite the comet was quite faint, only 11…12 magnitudes, it had a long tail that is clearly visible in the picture below. Comet 29P/Schwassmann-Wachmann 1 has been getting brighter and brighter lately. Now the comet is about 100 times brighter than in its “dormant state”.
