THO research team photographed supernova SN 2008ip 6./7.1.2008. This supernova was discovered 31.12.2008 and it is rare type II supernova. The brightness of the supernova was at the moment of the photographing 15.7R magnitudes. Observers: Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen.

Markku Nissinen and Harri Vilokki photographed Messier 42 with the EQ5 SynScan mount and Canon EOS 40D digital camera with the 300mm telephoto lens. The picture below is a combine of 10 sec., 30 sec., 60 sec and 120 sec. exposured picture

THO research team organized a small CCD workshop 4.1.2009. The participants were Harri Vilokki, Tuomo Salmi, Jari Torpakko, Esa Heikkinen, Markku Nissinen and Veli-Pekka Hentunen. THO research team photographed 144P/Kushida as a first comet of the year 2009. The sky was quite light so the comet wasn’t as visible as in best conditions. The temperature was -9 celsius and the seeing was about 3. Observers: Veli-Pekka Hentunen, Markku Nissinen and Harri Vilokki.
