Veli-Pekka Hentunen measured the lightcurve of the asteroid 93 Minerva in Taurus Hill Observatory 24.-25.12.2006 23:00-05:00. Veli-Pekka used R -filter and 120 sec. exposure (per picture) for photometric measurements. The comparison stars used in this measurement were GSC1423-528 (C1) and GSC1423-568 (C2).  The weather was damp and little foggy. Due this and the fact that the correction lens […]

HD209458b exoplanet transit observed in THO.

HD209458b was the first exoplanet that was observed by amateur (Nyrölä, Finland; 2000). Taurus Hill Observatory’s observing group members Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen photographed this exoplanet transit 27./28.11.2006. Due the humidity it was very difficult to make good measurements. Also the lack of the good comparison stars in field of the CCD -cell field made reliable measurements challenging. The comparison stars […]

Asteroid 7 Iris was photographed in Taurus Hill Observatory 27./28.11.2006 by Markku Nissinen and Veli-Pekka Hentunen. The asteroid is now about 7,2 magnitude bright object and it is 130 million kilometers away from the Earth. This picture is taken with clear filter and 15 sec. exposure. (Tämä uutinen suomeksi)

4P/Faye photographed again in THO.

Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen photographed again comet 4P/Faye in 16./17.11.2006 (21:45-22:16 finnish time). The comet is about 9.5 magnitude object and it is possible to observe visually even with small telescopes. In this CCD -picture, you can see a dim tail of the comet. At the time this picture was taken, the comet was low in […]
