Asteroid 76 Freia observed at Taurus Hill Observatory.

Posted by & filed under .

The spin time of the asteroid 76 Freia is about 9 h 58 min. Asteroid is quite big, diameter about 184 km. Taurus Hill Observatory research team members Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen measured asteroids light curve about 3 h 30 min. The weather was quite foggy at the beginning of the measurement. The measurements were performed […]

Part of the lightcurve of the asteroid 36 Atalante measured.

Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen measured 5.2 hours (total of the asteroids 9.93 hours spin) the lightcurve of the asteroid 36 Atalante 16./17.4.2007 at Taurus Hill Observatory. The bright late spring sky made the measurements a bit difficult and there won’t be much weeks left in this observing season here in Finland. Veli-Pekka and Markku used 150 sec. exposures and photometric R -filter for each […]

Asteroid 173 Ino photographed and measured in THO.

Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen measured the lightcurve of the asteroid 173 Ino in 8.-9.4.2007 at Taurus Hill Observatory. The variation in light intensity was very small, only 0.06 magnitudes. Despite that the lightcurve turned out to be very good. The weather was quite gold, -6 celcius, and clear. Veli-Pekka and Markku used 150 sec. exposures […]

Asteroid 31 Euphrosyne measured in Taurus Hill Observatory.

The asteroid research continued in THO when the lightcurve of the asteroid 31 Euphrosyne was measured by Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen  in 30./31.2.2007 They used 120 sec. exposures and photometric filter R for the measurements. The comparison stars were GSC3422-1893 (C1) and GSC3422-1322. The Moon made the measurements a bit difficult, but in spite of that the […]

Asteroid 471 Papagena measurements made in Taurus Hill Observatory.

The lightcurve of the asteroid 471 Papagena was measured by Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen  in 25./26.2.2007 in Taurus Hill Observatory. They used 120 sec. exposures and photometric filter R for the measurements. The comparison stars were GSC 2488-0284 (C1) and GSC 2495-0287 (C2). (Tämä uutinen suomeksi)

Asteroid 416 Vaticana lightcurve measured in Taurus Hill Observatory.

Nice weather made the lightcurve measurements possible again and Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen were able to make a good measurements about the asteroid 416 Vaticana in 25./26.2.2007 in Taurus Hill Observatory. They used 15 sec. exposures and photometric filter R for the measurements. The comparison stars were GSC2490-1009 (C1) and GSC2490-1073 (C2) (Tämä uutinen suomeksi) […]

The lightcurve of the asteroid 93 Minerva measured in THO.

Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen measured second time the lightcurve of the asteroid Minerva 30.-31.1.2007 in Taurus Hill Observatory. The bright Moon made the measurements a bit difficult, but because Minerva is spot like object, the lightcurve turned out to be very good. Veli-Pekka and Markku measured the astroids lightcurve 5,5 hours that is allmost the one […]

Lightcurve measurements of the asteroid 54 Alexandra made in THO.

The revolution time of the asteroid 54 Alexandra is about 7,3 hours. Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen  measured five hours from this 7,3 hours revolution time 21.-22.1.2007 in Taurus Hill Observatory. The weather was clear and the temperature was about -15 celcius degrees. The R -filter and 120 sec. exposures were used for this measurement. The comparison stars were GSC1793-1602 […]

Asteroid 37 Fides lightcurve.

Posted by & filed under .

Asteroid 37 Fides spins around its axel once in every 7,3 hours. In Taurus Hill Observatory we measured about five (5) hours from this one spin. The lightcurve below is a result of about 200 separate R -filter -pictures (60 sec. exposure in each picture). This measurements was made in 11.-12.1.2007 and the sky was clear […]
