Star USNO-B1.0 1284-0331019 (also known as Kepler-9) has estimated to be three transiting exoplanets from the Earth point of view. Two of them are gas giants that have a revolution times of 19 and 38 days. The remaining exoplanet is only 1,5 times bigger than Earth and near the star. Taurus Hill Observatory research team […]

Taurus Hill observatory research team photographed the gamma ray burst GRB 100805A by using the New Mexico Mayhill GRAS002-telescope.
First tests of the new Lunt LS60 solar telescope.
Taurus Hill Observatory bought a new telescope for the Sun observations. The Lunt LS60 h-alpha -telescope has been discovered to be a very excellent telescope for the visual observation purposes. It is also very easy to use the Lunt-telescope for the photographing of the Sun. It has a thread for the T-ring that is used […]
Main building project took a big leap forward.
The new main building project of the Taurus Hill Observatory moved forward with a big leap when Mansikka ry. granted 114 807,80 euros support for the project. The overall cost estimate of the project is 179 263 euros. The funding portion of the Taurus Hill Observatory is then 76 545,20 euros where 48 000 euros […]
Exoplanet HAT-13-P observed 2.5.2010 at Taurus Hill Observatory.
Veli-Pekka Hentunen measured the light curve of the exoplanet HAT-13-P 02.05.2010 at Taurus Hill Observatory by using the 14″ Celestron telescope, SBIG ST-8XME CCD -camera and Paramount ME mount. There is a cap in the light curve due the clouds.

SN 2010af prediscovery made at Taurus Hill Observatory.
Taurus Hill Observatory research team photographed NGC 3172 24./25.2.2010. At that time the team didn’t notice any supernovae in the galaxy. Tom Boles phographed same galaxy 4.3.2010 and he saw a faint supernova (about 17 mag.) fairly long distance from the center of the galaxy. THO reasearch team photographed the supernova 6.3.2010 and it was […]
Taurus Hill Obsevatory bought more land for the observatory.
Warkauden Kassiopeia (the owner association of the Taurus Hill Observatory) bought land from the Varkaus parish. The new bought land area is 5000m2 and at the moment the kota (or hut) is located in this land. In future the new main building will be built in the same area. The estimated starting time of the new […]
