Supernovae SN2008A and SN2008C.

We observed the first supernova SN2008A of year 2008 at THO. Supernova was found 2.1.2008 byt Yoshimi Ichimura. We observed also supernova SN2008C. It was found 3.1.2008 by Tim Puckett, R. Gagliano and Jack Newton. Pictures: Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen.

Supernova SN2007uy is found by Yoji Hirose 31.12.2007. Despite of that it is not latest named supernova of year 2007. After that is named SN2007uz found by Lulin observatory, it is found nearly 24 hours earlier, though. Year 2007 had been found 584 supernovae, which is new record. The spin time of the asteroid 76 Freia is about 9 h 58 min. Asteroid is quite big, diameter about 184 km. Comet 8P/Tuttle is so bright that it is very visible in the picture below, despite the Moon that was very near at the moment of the photographing. The comet 8P/Tuttle, which is the source comet for Ursids, has been observed at Taurus Hill Obsevatory 18./19.12.2007 21:29 – 22:05 (finnish time). Despite the half moon and the small fog, the comet was also easily observed with binoculars.
