The gamma-ray burst GRB 090313 was observed by Markku Nissinen 13.3.2009 about one hour after the discovery of the GRB. Markku used the GRAS-04 telescope that is sited in Mayhill, NM, USA. The exposure times that Markku used were 300 sec., 360 sec. and 600 sec. Below are the results. obs midpoint(UT)   exptime  mag(CR)   mag.err2009-03-13 10:14:41  360 […]

In the CBET 1707 there is a text “independent discoverers, reported following the posting to CBAT unconfirmed objects page”. These independent discoverers are Mikko Päivinen and Petri Kehusmaa. As a discoverers the CBET 1707 says Cortini, Antonellini from Italy. Markku Nissinen and Veli-Pekka Hentunen photographed the confirmatrion image of the discovery (many others did it […]

Supernovae SN 2008ip and SN 2008N are very interesting supernovae for the researchers. This is due they both are rare type of supernovae. Both supernovae have been observed quite long time at THO by the research team. Here are photographs that are taken 25/26.2.2009.

Taurus Hill Observatory research team photographed some supernovae 16./17.2.2009, including the SN 2009Q that was discovered at THO. The SN 2009Q, discovered 30.1.2009, is a type Ia supernova and it had a brightness of 16.2R magnitudes when photographed. Observers: Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen.

Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen made the first supernova discovery for the year 2009 30./31.1.2009 when they observed the supernova SN 2009Q in the galaxy UGC 9982. The brightness of the SN 2009Q was about 17.2 magnitudes when discovered. The confirmation pictures were taken by the Arto Oksanen from the Hankasalmi Observatory and by Hentunen […]
