Supernova SN2008gx discovered at Taurus Hill Observatory.

Posted by & filed under , .

This time the supernova went off in galaxy NGC 3144 and it was first time observed 4/5.11.2008 in THO by Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen. Arto Oksanen made the verification observation in Hankasalmi Observatory. This supernova got a name SN2008gx and it had a brightness of 16.8R magnitudes when discovered. The IAU made a CBET circular about the […]

SN2007fv photographed again at Taurus Hill Observatory.

Supernova SN2007fv, discovered by the Koichi Itagaki, was photographed at Taurus Hill Observatory 7./8.10.2008 by the Taurus Hill Observatory research team. The supernova was at the moment of the photographing brighter than last time it was observed at THO. In this picture below the SN200fv is about 14.3CR magnitudes bright. Observers: Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen.

Taurus Hill Observatory research team photographed the supernova SN2008fv 28./29.9.2008 at THO. The supernova is discovered by the Koichi Itagaki and it is located in galaxy NGC 3147. The same galaxy was photographed at the THO 21./22.9.2008, but that time the supernova wasn’t visible. The supernova SN 2008fb is about 15.6R magnitude bright in these […]

New supernova discovery made at THO!

Taurus Hill Observatory research team members Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen photographed galaxy UGC 2813 24./25.8.2008 and they saw from the raw pictures that there was a new clear star like object in the edge of the galaxy. Veli-Pekka and Markku measured the brightness and the location of the object. The early results indicated that […]

Supernovae SN2008eo and SN2008eq.

Taurus Hill Observatory research team observed two recently discovered supernovae 9./10.8.2008 at THO. Observers: Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen. Supernova SN2008eo discovered 3.8.2008 by Tom Boles. The brightness of the supernova is 15,9 magnitudes and type is still unknown. Supernova SN2008eq discovered 2.8.2008 by LOSS. The brightness of the supernova is 18,4 magnitudes and type is still […]

Supernova SNF20080720-001 photographed at THO.

Supernova SNF20080720-001 was discovered by the SN Factory in July 20. 2008. It is a type Ia and it was 16.6 magnitudes bright at the moment of the photographing. The supernova was faintly visible when Veli-Pekka Hentunen photographed it 30./31.7.2008 in Taurus Hill Observatory. The galaxy itself (IRAS 01026+3735) is also a very dim object. Observer: Veli-Pekka Hentunen

GRB080430 photographed at Taurus Hill Observatory.

The afterglow of the gammaray burts GRB080430 is clearly visible in the pictures that were taken at Taurus Hill Observatory by the Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen. They used  600 sec. exposure times for clear and photometric R -filter images. The brightness of the GRB was, according the measurements, 19.2CR and 19.5R. The object was located in the coordinates RA […]
