Supernova SN2007sr.

After long asteroid 48 Doris light curve measurement we took CCD image of southernly bright supernova SN2007sr, which is in NGC 4038, Antennae galaxy. It was only about 6 degrees above horizon when we took the picture. Observers: Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen at 5/6.1.2008 night / morning just before sunrise.

Supernovae SN2008A and SN2008C.

We observed the first supernova SN2008A of year 2008 at THO. Supernova was found 2.1.2008 byt Yoshimi Ichimura. We observed also supernova SN2008C. It was found 3.1.2008 by Tim Puckett, R. Gagliano and Jack Newton. Pictures: Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen.

Supernova SN2007uy is found by Yoji Hirose 31.12.2007. Despite of that it is not latest named supernova of year 2007. After that is named SN2007uz found by Lulin observatory, it is found nearly 24 hours earlier, though. Year 2007 had been found 584 supernovae, which is new record. Supernova SN2007so.

We observed supernova SN2007so and took CCD images of it 18/19.12.2007 night at THO. Observers: Veli-Pekka Hentunen and Markku Nissinen. SN2007so had been found 13.12.2007 by Lick Observatory Supernova Search program. It is about 17 mag type Ia supernova in galaxy NGC 1109.

Supernova SN2007qe.

Supernova SN2007qe’s brightness is about 17 magnitudes. It was found 13.11.2007 by ROTSE and Nearby Supernova Factory. It was observed 23/24.11.2007 at THO. Picture: Veli-Pekka Hentunen.

Supernovae SN2007oo and SN2007pk

SN2007oo is found by Lick Observatory Supernova Search program at 6th November and SN2007 pk is found by same search program at 10th November. SN2007oo is about 19 magnitudes and SN2007pk is 17 magnitudes. SN2007oo is Ia and SN2007pk is quite rare IIn-pec type supernova. We took CCD-images of supernovae at 19/20 November at THO. […]
