Nova Delphini 2013 Observations Summary.
Nova Delphini 2013 was one of the positive surprises of the late summer 2013. The maximum brightness of the nova was about 4 magnitudes and the best thing was that the nova was in very “good position” on the sky here in Finland. THO research team member Jari Juutilainen observed nova several times and here […]
Asteroid 3 Juno observed
THO research team member Jari Juutilainen continued the start of the observing season 25.8.2013 by observing the asteroid 3 Juno. At the moment of the photograph the Juno was about 8,6 magnitudes bright and quite easily observed by the SLR-camera optics.
Asteroid Iris 7 observed several times
The nights are getting darker and darker in Finland and therefore it is possible to continue the astronomical observations after bright summer months. THO research team member Jari Juutilainen spotted and photographed the asteroid Iris 7 couple of times between 16.-25.8.2013. Picture 1: Asteroid iris 7 16.8.2013. Picture 2: Asteroid iris 7 23.8.2013. Picture 3: […]
Problems with Taurus Hill Observatory and Warkauden Kassiopeia Finnish web sites.
Taurus Hill Observatory and Warkauden Kassiopeia Finnish web sites are now down and there will be massive updates to these sites during next week or so. These updates will cause some problems also for this THO english web site. At least some of the pictures are missing due there are part of the Finnish THO […]
New CCD camera for Taurus Hill Observatory.
The new CCD camera of the Taurus Hill Observatory has arrived. Camera is the latest SBIG model STT-8300M that includes self guiding filter wheel. In this filter wheel there are eight slots for 1,25″ sized filters. The filter wheel is very precise so when changing the filter, you don’t have to refocus the telescope and […]
Taurus Hill Observatory introduced in EPSC, Madrid, Spain.
The research work of the Taurus Hill Observatory will be presented in this year EPSC (European Planetary Science Congress) held in Madrid, Spain, 23.-28.9. This years poster title is “Transit Observations in Taurus Hill Observatory” and it is focused on Venus transit observations 2004 and 2012. There is also one chapter about the exoplanet observations. […]
New pictures from the Venus Transit 2012.
Part of the h-alpha pictures are now processed and uploaded to the Venus Transit 2012 gallery (text are in Finnish). Processing the h-alpha pictures is very challenging and time-consuming. THO “Venus Transit 2012 – Nordkapp Expedition” took about 700 pictures from the transit of Venus. We plan to upload the best pictures to our gallery, […]
